Thoroughly wash and parboil food before consumption – CPC warns
November 10, 2018
The Consumer Protection Council in Nigeria has urged citizens to be wary of contaminated food being sold in the markets.
The agency, in reaction to a video of baggers using Sniper as pesticide to preserve beans, said that though the chemical was dangerous for consumption, there was “no evidence that the process constitutes any deliberate attempt to injure customers.”
It advised consumers to ensure sufficient inquiries prior to purchases, and when uncertain, to thoroughly wash and parboil food items before consumption.
CPC said it was already collaborating with other regulators to address the situation.
