“Stack naira notes in water-filled bottles to escape recession” – pastor-prophet instructs members

After predicting the current economic recession would continue for the next two years, a Nigerian pastor said he got the magic formula to shield his followers from the downturn.

He’s Pastor Yinka Adedokun (name of church withheld).

The “power-packed” and “prophetic” money-bottling service, NewsroomNG gathered, held Sunday, September 4.

It’s unclear how many people attended. It’s also unclear if participants were allowed to leave the event with their bottled cash.

Adedokun will not be the only Nigerian pastor to proffer “divine” solutions to economic hardship.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) earlier said the only people who won’t perish in these hard times are the ones who give their monies to the Church.

On Sunday, October 1, Pastor Daniel K. Olukoya of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) prayed on olive oil his members lifted to the heavens assuring them the anointing would guarantee continuous flow of cash as the rest of the nation suffered.

Members, we gathered were told to bring their own oil. Those who failed to do so had to buy from Sunday church traders at exorbitant prices.

“Supreme success is guaranteed in the last four months of this year,” Christ Embassy’s Chris Oyakhilome promised church financiers during a September online “fellowship” exclusive to only member who heavily donate to the church.

During a church service in the 1990s, Winners Chapel bishop David Oyedepo reportedly told members to empty their pockets, purses, wallets and bags of all cash.

“He told us to throw the money on the ground and curse it declaring that money would no longer rule over us,” a man who attended the service told NewsroomNG.

“We trampled the money and did as the man of God said. After the prayer, he told us not to touch the money as it was now ‘cursed’ money. He then instructed the ushers to pack all the cash.

“I had lots of cash emptied on the ground. I didn’t feel right. I picked up my money before the ushers came.

“I saw a lot of people trekking home that day,” he said.
