Someone just donated expiring food to Kenya’s homeless

Homeless of Nairobi wrote on Facebook…

“Incredible things happen at unexpected times. We have received an amazing donation of about 350 boxes of pasta. Yes 350! Each box contains 24 packets and so that’s about 8400 packets of pasta in total. The only thing is that this pasta expires in about 3 weeks and if we cannot use it, it will be thrown away!

“This is where we need your help. We cannot move 8400 packets of pasta alone. We need the collective help of all of you. The worst thing we can do is throw away food that can help feed so many people. We need help on logistics and also where we can distribute the food to. We can feed so many hungry people with this amount of food and it’s not beyond our collective capability.

“This is the true nature of giving and we are indebted to the people who are donating. Instead of throwing away food, we should make it a habit to find alternative solutions for people who are hungry. All it needs for cooking is water and a bit of salt.

“So please share this far and wide and let’s feed everyone in need! In the comments section, please do let us know which places you think would benefit and put the pasta to use.

“Thank you, as always. You guys are awesome.”

Kenyans have taken to the thread to show support for the gesture. Most of them are offering to help share the expiring pasta among the poor in the region.
