Senate Confirm Bianca, Six Others As Minister
The Nigerian Senate confirmed the appointment of President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominees during a plenary session in the upper chamber on Wednesday, October 30.
Beginning with Nentawe Yilwatda, who was appointed to replace Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, the Senate also screened and confirmed Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafran warlord Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Subsequently, the lawmakers confirmed other appointees, including Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment, and Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry.
Idi Maiha was confirmed as the Minister of the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development, while Yusuf Ata is now the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development. Additionally, Suwaiba Ahmad was confirmed as Minister of State for Education.
After weeks of speculations, President Bola Tinubu implemented the long-awaited cabinet reschedule last Wednesday where he dismissed five ministers, reassigned ten others to new portfolios, and appointed seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.
