Security guard stabs, kills colleague over N500 in Lagos
A security guard, Moshood Adigun, has been arrested at the Yaba area of Lagos for stabbing and killing his colleague over N1,000 cash gift.
Adigun stabbed one Ahmed Oyesiji in the neck with a broken bottle over the money given by a passerby. The victim bled to death at the spot.
A passerby had given the men, working as security guards at Oko Agbon, Iwaya, Yaba area of Lagos, the money at their duty post on the fateful day.
Oyesiji held on to the cash gift.
Adigun, who was owing his colleague a sum of N4,000 prior, demanded his share from the cash gift at the close of work.
Oyesiji refused, saying he would use Adigun’s share to offset a part of the money he owed him. Pandemonium broke.
A witness, Mayowa, said Adigun smashed a bottle and stabbed Oyesiji in the neck.
“They worked as security guards in the community. Moshood (Adigun) owed Ahmed (Oyesiji) N4,000. Somebody gave them N1,000 while they were on duty on Monday. Instead of them to share the money, Ahmed said he would not give Moshood his share. He said Moshood’s debt remained N3,500. They argued over it and fought,” he said.
“After they were separated, Moshood went for a bottle, broke it and stabbed him in the neck. He was bleeding heavily and within five minutes, he died.”
Adigun was arrested by the police from the Sabo division while the corpse was deposited in the morgue of the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba.
He was being held at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
