Rice makes for lucrative business! Customs makes N1.2 billion on rice importation in two months

In the two months following the removal of the restriction placed on importation of Rice through the land borders, the Nigerian Customs Service has raked in N1,178,720,376 in import duties.
During that period, October and November 2015, a total of 17.596 Metric Tonnes of rice was imported into the country through the land borders.
Of all the land borders in the country, the Idiroko border, Ogun Command, had the largest volume of rice pass through it within the said period with 8.276 Metric tonnes resulting in the collection of N555,152,344 duty.
Rice business is good business, isn’t it?.
