President Tinubu Lands in Brazil After US Stopover

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Brasília, Brazil’s capital city, for a two-day state visit. Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, said Tinubu was received by senior Brazilian government officials at the Brasília Air Base after flying in from Los Angeles, United States.

The officials who welcomed him included Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, and Ambassador Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, Brazil’s Ambassador to Nigeria. Bianca Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, was also present at the reception.

Onanuga added that other ministers, heads of key government agencies, and private sector members later welcomed President Tinubu to his hotel. These individuals will participate in a series of bilateral talks and MOU signings. The official welcoming ceremony, complete with full military honors, is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Planalto Palace.

This visit follows President Tinubu’s recent participation in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan and a three-day stopover in Los Angeles before heading to South America. Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 15, stopped over in Dubai, UAE, and arrived in Yokohama on August 18. He concluded his engagements in Japan on August 22, where he held bilateral meetings and interactive sessions with Nigerians living in Japan.
