Police Clash with Sokoto Residents Over Death of Kidnapped Emir of Gobir
The Nigeria Police and residents of Sokoto have clashed following the death of the kidnapped Emir of Gobir.
Residents in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State, rioted over the murder of Alhaji Isa Bawa, the Emir of Gobir in Gawata town of the state on Thursday.
Recall that the Emir was kidnapped three weeks ago.
A video made the rounds on the internet which showed the Emir, while in captivity, calling on the government to accelerate his release from the hands of his kidnappers.

Bawa later died in captivity.
The death has angered residents of the town, who took to the streets, burning tyres on the road and making their displeasure known.
Officers of the Nigeria Police, in a bid to squash the riot, clashed with the irrate residents.
