Police debunk report of 17-year-old who allegedly beat grandma to stupor

Residents of a community in Abaraka, Delta State, said they saw Felix Obus, 17, unleash heartbreaking violence on his grandmother.

“It never happened,” state police spokesperson Kalu Amadi Celestina  told Newsroom on Monday.

Reports had said the teenager beat his 65-year-old grandma till she passed out after the woman accused him of stealing her N20,000.

He then reportedly tried to flee but was apprehended by the police. He allegedly told police officers he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.

But the state police department said it never made such arrest or heard about the occurrence.

“I just called Abraka police division now and they did not tell me anything like that happened,” Kalu said.
