Police arrest “most wanted Boko Haram member” behind Abuja bomb lasts

Police have arrested an alleged Boko Haram top gun, Umar Abdulmalik and seven members of his gang.

Authorities say Umar, an “explosive expert”, has been one of the most wanted members of the terrorist group for some time.

He is alleged to be the mastermind of the explosion that rocked Nyanya and Kuje, Abuja, in 2015.

The gang has allegedly killed no lesser than 10 police officers in 2018 – 2 in June, 7 in July and one in November.

Police say the gang were also behind the attack and jail break at Medium Security Prison in Minna, Niger State on June 3, where 219 criminals – including two Boko Haram members under Umar – escaped.
