Pastor Kumuyi Cautions Youths Against Violence, Predicts Better Nigeria

W.F.-Kumuy

Pastor William Kumuyi, The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministries, has advised against Nigerian youths against violence, while stating that a better Nigeria is a possibility.

The Clergyman gave this advice on Wednesday at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Rivers State, while speaking to newsmen.

Speaking ahead of the ‘Change Makers Initiative International’ conference scheduled to be held between August 15 and 20, 2024, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in the Rivers State capital, Kumuyi noted that violence should not be a resort when seeking change.

On the backdrop of the now ended #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, Kumuyi insisted that there were many other ways of acheiving a better Nigeria that did not involve the destruction of lives and properties.

“When we say that there should be a change, there could be different methods of bringing up a change. Young people might feel this is the way to bring change, and older people might feel this is the way to bring change. Even the government in a few years will realise, and understand there must be a change, but this is the way.

“If we can harness all our efforts and energy together and we are not trying to defeat anyone. We’re not going to try to crush anyone. The youth and government, and everyone knowing that we all have the right constitutionally to bring a change, so we all get together, we brainstorm and we’ll strategise.

“If this is not working, will this work? A sort of that round conference table that we’re able to say ‘Why don’t we go this direction?’ If we have been doing it this way, expecting change, and the change has not come, is there a better way? Is there an alternative?

“I think when we love one another, and we respect and honour one another and then we’re able to sit down without any kind of a grievance or retaliation or destroying anything, we’re not at anyone. All we want is a better country. We’ll have it eventually!” Kumuyi said.

Kumuyi noted that the change we seek must begin from each and every citizen.

“As individuals, as families, and then we carry the change to our offices and everywhere. All that we are mourning, and groaning about, things will turn around for the better,” Kumuyi added.
