Oyedeji named Group Managing Director of FBN Holdings

Mr Adebowale Oyedeji has been announced as the new Group Managing Director (GMD) of FBN Holdings.

The Financial Institution announced this in a corporate notice it filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Friday.

Subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and ratification of the Shareholders at the company’s Annual General Meeting Oyedeji’s appointment will be effected on November 13, 2024.

The Group Chairman of FBN Holdings, Femi Otedola, expressed optimism that the appointment will help build on what he described as the company’s “solid foundation.”

“The Board is pleased to welcome Wale Oyedeji to the Holdco and looking forward to him building on the solid foundation of 130-year-old franchise and sustaining its undisputed leadership position,” Otedola stated.

Oyedieji will now replace the present GMD, Nnamdi Okonkwo, who will retire from the Company after completing his term.

Oyedeji is a holder of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Science in Financial Economics from the University of London.

The new GMD is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School.

Oyedeji boasts of a 30yr banking experience across corporate banking, Commercial Banking, General Management and Treasury.

He was the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank UK between 2008 and 2011, as well as being appointed to the bank’s board in October 2011, where he served as Executive Director for the Corporate Banking Group.

He also served as the MD/CEO of Nova Commercial Bank before his present appointment.
