Other groups who want to buy my nomination form should support Not Too Yong To Run – Buhari
President Buhari has said he wants young candidates to be able to contest against him in the party’s primary election.
Young candidates have been thrown aback by the staggering N45 million fee for APC’s presidential nomination form, as well as N22.5 for governorship aspirants.
Buhari, and many other politicians, claim their forms were paid for by loyalists and supporters.
The President said Tuesday evening that to give a fair chance to young candidates in the back of the Not Too Young To Run movement, he has advised those who contributed for his form to divert the remaining sum to help such candidates.
“In accepting this nomination form from the NCAN today, I have asked all the other groups who have offered to buy my nomination form to reassign their contributions to the Not Too Young To Run wing of the APC,” he said.
“Nigeria is blessed with many talented and visionary youth who have a lot to contribute. Many of them may not be able to afford the nomination fees set by our party. The contributions of willing individuals & groups will go a long way in supporting the next generation of leaders.
“I have therefore requested that any remaining funds raised to buy my presidential nomination form be used to support these young, competent and dynamic future leaders.”
