Osagie confirmed as Attorney-General, Commissioner for Justice of Edo State
The House of Assembly in Edo state has confirmed the nomination of Dr Samson Osagie as the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
The confirmation was done by the House on Wednesday.
Osagie’s nomination for the position was announced immediately Governor Monday Okpebholo was sworn in as Governor.
The Governor, in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, asked the House to confirm Osagie.
Among other requests by the Governor, the House was requested to pass the 2024 supplementary budget.
The Speaker then pointed out that owing to Osagie’s service as a two-term Assembly member (1999 to 2007), his screening will be less stringent.
Agbebaku asked that Osagie “should be allowed to take a bow and be confirmed, in line with the House’s tradition recognising contributions of former lawmakers at both state and national levels.”
Sequel to this, Samson Osagie was then confirmed as the Attorney-General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice in Edo state by unanimous vote.
The new Commissioner for Justice is is the present Vice President of the African Bar Association (West African Region).
He was born on November 11, 1967 and called to bar in 1995.
The AG hails from Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State.
