Olympics Day 11: Team Nigeria’s Favour Ofili goes for Gold, Oborududu aims for Bronze today
Today is the 11th day of the 2024 Olympics in Paris and it presents Team Nigeria with two chances of getting on the medals table.
Favour Ofili is set to race in the women’s 200-meter final at the Paris 2024 Olympics later tonight. The 21-year-old sprinter made history yesterday by becoming the first Nigerian to qualify for the event’s final in 28 years since Mary Onyali achieved the feat in Atlanta ’96.
Ofili clocked a time of 22.05 seconds, finishing second in Heat 1 of the semi-finals. Her performance secured her the third-best time overall in the semi-finals, making her a strong medal contender. The final is scheduled for 8:40 pm.

In wrestling, Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu will compete in the bronze medal match of the women’s 68kg freestyle at 6:30 pm, with her opponent yet to be confirmed.
In other events, Ese Brume will begin her quest for a medal in the women’s long jump qualifiers. Brume, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, will compete alongside Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor at 11:15 am.
Chinecherem Nnamdi will participate in the men’s javelin throw qualification round at 11:20 am.
