Gov Ododo approves ₦72,500 minimum wage for Kogi civil servants
Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has approved the seventy-two thousand five hundred naira minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
The Governor disclosed this on Monday after putting pen to paper on the agreement.
While stating that the new minimum wage becomes effective immediately, Ododo further clarified that the workers will be exempted from paying any taxes on the new wage for one year.

“The new minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred naira should take immediate effect to enable it to cope with the current situation in the country,” Ododo stated.
While reacting to the agreement on the minimum wage, the Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, Mr Elijah Evenemi, lauded the Governor for not interfering with the committee during the process.
The new resolution on the new minimum wage is a result of a meeting between the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Thereafter, the President approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers on July 18, 2024.
Tinubu also promised to to review the national minimum wage law after every three years.
