No Show! US ambassador absent at sex scandal hearing again

Accused!

For the second time running, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, failed to attend the hearing on allegations of sexual misconducted levelled against three members of the Federal House of Representatives.

Entwistle had written the Speaker of the lower chambers alleging that three of a 10-man delegation to an event in the United States committed sexual related offences during their state in the country.

In the letter, the envoy wrote that Mohammed Garba Gololo “allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for sex”, while Mark Terseer Gbillah and Samuel Ikon “allegedly requested hotel parking attendants assist them to solicit prostitutes”.

Entwistle was absent when the panel first met last Thursday. He reportedly asked to be excused because of an African Union Summit he attended in Kigali, Rwanda.

The US envoy was also not present at the hearing today. Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, was absent too.

The minister reportedly asked to be excused because he had to attend a Federal Executive Council meeting, the house joint committees on ethics, privileges and foreign affairs chairman, Ossai Ossai said.

Entwistle who claimed to have video evidence supporting the allegations has however not offered any explanation for his absence..
