NLC President Joe Ajaero Detained by DSS at Abuja Airport
Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), was detained this morning on Monday, September 9, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Ajaero, who was preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official engagement, was abruptly intercepted by the DSS.

Sources indicate that He was en route to the Trade Union Congress (TUC) conference scheduled to take place in the UK today. Ajaero was transferred to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) after his arrest.
Although, the exact reasons behind his detention remain unclear as details continue to emerge, Ajaero was resummoned by the Nigerian police to appear before Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force intelligence Department (FID) on September 5.
