NLC Confirm Date For Minimum Wage Payment By Adamawa Govt

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has confirmed that the Adamawa Government has approved the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Fashe, disclosed this on Monday in the state capital, Yola.
According to Fashe, Adamawa Governor, Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri, has ordered the payment, stating that disbursement will commence from August, 2024.
“His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has proved to be a labour friendly governor, having the interest and welfare of the state civil servants at heart.

“He broke the news to us this afternoon at a meeting in his office, where he directed the Account-General of the state to use the current salary structure to calculate and implement the new wage effective from August,” Fashe disclosed.
The move by the Adamawa governement comes at a time when other state Governors are actively opposing the payment.
Many state governors have, so far, pointed to an unavailability of funds as their major obstacle to paying the new minimun wage approved by President Bola Tinubu months back.
