Nigeria’s economy would improve in 2025 – Vice President Shettima
Nigeria’s Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, has expressed strong optimism about the country’s economic prospects, forecasting significant growth by 2025. Speaking on Saturday at a retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in his Abuja office, Shettima highlighted the nation’s ongoing economic improvements, underscoring that the trajectory of growth is set to accelerate in the coming years.

One of the key markers of the country’s progress, Shettima noted, is Nigeria’s recent oil production milestone of 1.8 million barrels per day, a substantial increase that signals the resilience of the nation’s oil sector despite global challenges.

Shettima credited President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies for the positive momentum, emphasizing that the President is deeply committed to transforming the nation’s economy for the benefit of all Nigerians. “President Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of the nation. We all want to bequeath to the younger generation a united and progressive country,” he said.

While acknowledging that Nigeria’s economy has faced its share of challenges, Shettima remains confident that the nation has “turned the corner” and is now on a clear path to growth. “Yes, the economy has and is experiencing challenges but we have turned the corner. As of now, we are producing 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. The economy is on an upward trajectory, and I believe in the new year, the economy will grow in leaps and bounds,” Shettima asserted.

The Vice-President also called on all Nigerians, including the presidential aides present at the event, to rally behind President Tinubu’s vision for national progress. “The country is greater than all of us. I urge you, let’s work as a team and as a family,” he urged.
The retreat, organized for aides in the office of the Vice-President, was designed to facilitate a more cohesive working environment and improve collaboration across various government sectors. Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice-President), explained that the event aimed to foster synergy and strategic communication within the office while ensuring smooth execution of key tasks.
“The essence of this retreat is to enhance communication, streamline project funding, and foster partnerships,” Hadejia said. “It will also strengthen collaboration with ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure that the government’s plans are executed efficiently.”
