Nigerians react: So Governor Wike is the “corrupt” judge’s gate man?

Rivers State governor Nyesome Wike risked the bullet to prevent the arrest of a Federal High Court judge on Saturday.

Wike: “The Commissioner of Police is here, the Director of DSS is here. Their operatives cocked their guns and threatened to shoot me. I have never seen that before." — *Wike: “The Commissioner of Police is here, the Director of DSS is here. Their operatives cocked their guns and threatened to shoot me. I have never seen that before.”*

DSS and police officers ,who raided the judge’s home at about 1am, met Wike there, waiting with his own “forces”. The governor said he wouldn’t allow a gestapo-style raid happen in his state.

But some Nigerians weren’t impressed.

DSS confirmed it raid the homes of judges with allegations of corruption over the heads. They allegedly perverted the course of justice in cases related to the aftermath of the 2015 general elections.

Two Supreme Court judges, as well as five other judicial workers were arrested late Friday.
