Nigerian Police Deploy 7,777 Operatives to Ogun Ahead of Festive Season
No fewer than 7,777 officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have been deployed in Ogun state to guarantee safety of lives and properties this yuletide season.
This was revealed by the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday.
According to its Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the Police, through intelligence gathering, anticipate a rise in crime during the festive period.
Odutola disclosed that a special team has been set up to be led by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo.
“Key locations such as places of worship, parks, recreation centres, government buildings, banks, and homes of diplomats will benefit from significant police presence,” Odutola said.
He explained that there will be presence of armoured vehicles in areas like Long Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Rounder in Abeokuta, Sapaade, Ogunmakin and others with past histories of criminal activities.

“Additionally, specialised units like SWAT, Anti-Cultism and Anti-Kidnapping will conduct regular patrols around educational institutions,” she said.
While warning criminal elements to resist the urge to engage in crime, the Spokesperson adviced drivers to obey traffic rules in a bid to avoid accidents.
“The command is working alongside other security agencies to provide a comprehensive security strategy aimed at ensuring peace and safety in Ogun State during this festive season.
“The public is encouraged to cooperate with security agents and respect the personnel on duty, who are working hard to keep everyone safe. Adhering to these security protocols will greatly contribute to maintaining a safe environment during the holidays.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo PhD, will be actively overseeing operations and coordinating with Area Commanders to support officers, with a force of 7,777 police officers deployed across the state.
“The Operations Department is well-equipped to respond firmly to all threats,” she ended.
