Nigeria Records First Death From Coronavirus
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recently reported the first death from the coronavirus.
The victim, whose name was withheld, was a 67-year-old male who had come back to Nigeria after a trip to the United Kingdom for health-related reasons.
He was undergoing chemotherapy for multiple myeloma and was also a diabetes patient.
This news coming mere hours after ex-vice president, Atiku Abubakar announced that his son tested positive for coronavirus, and that five new cases had been confirmed in the country, has left many Nigerians feeling shellshocked.
Although rumours abound, the authorities are yet to release the identity of the victim.
The health minister, Osagie Ehanire, and President Muhammadu Buhari are yet to comment on this recent development.
The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Nigeria is now 33. This sad development reminds us of the importance of taking every possible precaution in protecting ourselves and ensuring the welfare of our loved ones.
