The announcement came from Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, confirming that this pivotal policy took effect on October 1, 2024. This initiative aligns with directives from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The news was shared by Mr. Mohammed Manga, the Director of Information and Public Relations, during a weekend statement. Following a crucial meeting of the Implementation Committee, chaired by Minister Edun, key stakeholders gathered to affirm the launch of this strategic initiative.

Noteworthy participants included the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum, the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, and the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
