Nigeria Digital PR Summit celebrates 10 years of shaping, Storytelling, reputation, and digital influence

The 10th Nigeria Digital PR Summit has concluded in Lagos, celebrating a decade of innovation, storytelling, and leadership in Nigeria’s digital communication space.

Themed “Digital PR in Action: Owning Your Narrative, Telling Your Story,” the two-day event organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Chapter, in partnership with Upticomm Marketing Company was held at the Conference Centre, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, from October 15 – 16, 2025.

More than 250 delegates attended daily, including communication professionals, brand managers, influencers, digital strategists, academics, and media leaders from across Nigeria.

Opening the summit, Convener Segun McMedal reflected on its journey from a small Lagos-based experiment to a national platform shaping the country’s digital communication ecosystem.

“Ten years ago, this Summit started as a small experiment, a bold idea called the Lagos Digital PR Summit. Today, that small idea has evolved into a national movement that has empowered thousands of professionals and inspired new conversations on ethical, data-driven, and human-centered digital communication,” McMedal said.

He added that the gathering was more than just an event but “a call to action for brands to be transparent, for communicators to be intentional, and for all of us to use technology not just to speak louder, but to speak truthfully and with purpose.”

The keynote address, “Cybersecurity Meets Storytelling: Protecting National and Corporate Reputation in the Digital Space,” was delivered by Prof. Obadare Adewale, Chief Visionary Officer at Digital Encode.

The summit featured a lineup of panel sessions led by industry leaders, including Franklin Ozekhome(EVP, Chain Reactions Africa), Chioma Afe (Head, External Affairs and Social Performance, Seplat Energy), Segun Ogunleye (Head of Marketing, Diageo Africa Partner Markets), Mabel Adeteye (Head, Brands and Marketing Communications, Wema Bank), and Alero Ladipo (Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, UBA Group). Discussions explored emerging trends in corporate communications, sustainability, influencer engagement, and digital marketing.

Institutional support came from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Digital and New Media, alongside sponsorships from leading corporations and communication agencies dedicated to advancing ethical digital PR in Nigeria.

A standout moment of the event was the 2nd Nigeria Digital PR Awards Gala, which honoured individuals and organizations shaping the country’s digital PR landscape. The evening also saw the unveiling of the 4th edition of the Digital PR Digest—a glossy publication featuring thought leadership articles from communication experts and academics.

The cover story spotlighted Nene Bejide, Founder and Principal Consultant at Blanche Aigle Communications, the agency behind Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record PR campaign. The publication also recognized a standout article by a Lagos State University student, symbolizing the rising influence of young voices in Nigeria’s PR industry.
