By Dayo Emmanuel
If not for providence, the ever- busy Ikorodu Road in Lagos would have claimed another life today.
The lives of drivers and commuters trying to navigate Thursday morning’s rush hour almost took a turn for the deadly after a naked man jumped into the path of speeding vehicles.

Drivers had to quickly apply their brakes to avoid hitting mad man who refused to move an inch.
“He just stayed in the middle of the road and was talking to himself,” an eyewitness told Newsroom.
The man, who appeared fully naked, emerged from the nearby streets around Palmgrove to the amazement of commuters rushing to resume work…and jumped into the road to the horror of drivers.
…and then collision chain began.
A fully loaded bus from Agege hit a Toyota Camry from behind. The car also hit the vehicle before it in the ensuing chaos.
As a result, several passengers on the commercial bus sustained various degrees of injuries.
One of the passengers who simply introduced herself as Angela had to abort her trip her Ojuelegba office. She said she would head back home to treat her injuries.
Residents of Lagos metropolis, especially those who use the busy road, have been worried in recent times over the regular occurrence of accidents on the route.
Few days ago, it was the story of a container-carrying trailer skidding off the road and crashing into commuters. Two people were killed in that incident, reports say.
People are urging Lagos state authorities to swing into action and get a grip on traffic situation on major roads – Ikorodu expressway is one of those.

Stretching across 24.5 kilometres, Ikorodu Road is one of the major expressways in the state. It connects the Lagos mainland to Ikorodu, and is designated an A1 highway for its entire length.
For most parts of Lagos, it is a four-lane expressway with two frontage roads parallel to the expressway. It also crosses other major expressways including Apapa-Oworonshoki and the Lagos-Ibadan expressways.
