Michael Ibru dead, at 86
The patriarch of the renowned Ibru dynasty has died at the age of 86.
A statement released by the family says Ibru died peacefully in a hospital in the United States on Tuesday.
Born in 1930, he founded the Ibru organisation in 1956, a company that became one of the biggest conglomerates in Nigeria, with its hands in amny sectors of the economy.
He is survived by five wives and 17 children, with the most notable being Olorogun Oskar Ibru and Oboden Ibru.
One of his wives is former Oceanic Bank MD, Cecilia Ibru.
In 1983, he was a gubernatorial candidate for the Midwestern State.
