Mark Zuckerberg wants to teach Nigerian senators how to use Facebook
Senate President Bukola Saraki should not be described as a social media illiterate.
His Twitter and Facebook engagements are proof enough that he’s “social.”
One cannot say the same for many of Nigeria’s 109 senators as some of them have horrible social lives.
But that’s about to change, for their Facebook experience at least.
The Nigerian senators are to receive free Facebook training, Saraki’s Chief of Staff, Senator Isa Galaudu said in Abuja.
We recall the 8th Senate said it will engage Nigerians on social media, and it has so far fulfilled that promise.
Training senators to engage their constituencies one on one, on social media, is an obvious step to take the promise further.

“Senators and their aides will receive training on use of Facebook in line with the promise of the President of the Senate to ensure more representative legislature using e-parliamentary tools,” Galaudu said in a statement on Thursday.
“This is a partnership between the Office of the Senate President and Facebook.
He did say the training is voluntary. Let’s see how many of our senators are ready to tap into the enormous power of social.
To add: We’re not sure Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg will come in person. We actually messaged him to ask if he’ll be around. He’s yet to reply.
But the Silicon Valley giant’s African Head of Public Policy will lead the training team, we’re told. They’ll arrive Nigerian this weekend. Training takes place on Monday.
