Many pupils feared dead, others trapped as school building collapse in Lagos
Many pupils have been feared dead in a school building that collapsed at Ita-Faji in Lagos Island.
The school is reported to have been situated on the last floor of a three-story building that caved in this morning. More than 100 pupils were in the building as at the time of the incident and most of them have been trapped inside the building.
Eyewitnesses revealed that at least 10 pupils were already pulled out of the rubble, with no fewer than five of them confirmed dead.
Some of the pupils that were evacuated earlier have been taken to the hospital as parents scamper to confirm the safety of their children.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Kehinde Adebayo, confirmed that emergency officials have been working to rescue the trapped children from the site
