Man remanded in Kirikiri for stealing canned drinks worth N700
A man will spend at least one night at Kirikiri prisons for allegedly stealing canned drinks worth N700.
Michael Aniefie, a security guard, who appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday was remanded in prison until he can meet his bail conditions set at N5000 and one surety in like sum.
Aniefie was arraigned on a single count of stealing.
The court heard that the accused committed the offense on July 31, 2016 in the Ogba area of Lagos.
“The accused stole seven can of drinks from the warehouse,” the prosecutor, Inspector George Nwosu, told the court.
“When he was intercepted at the gate and searched, seven can of Orijin drinks were found in his bag.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.
If found guilty, Aniefie could be sentenced to up to three years in prison..
