Man molests underage niece, conspires to kill the girl after impregnating her
A 52-year-old man has been arrested by the Ekiti state Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for molesting his niece and engaging in continuous sexual abuse against the minor, which lasted for more than three years.
Dennis Kiyeve allegedly turned his underage niece into a sex machine which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy, twice.
When the suspect realized that the victim was pregnant again, he devised means to get rid of the baby and almost killed the girl in the process.
The niece came to live with her uncle at Ilupeju village in Gbonyin Ekiti after her mother’s death in Benue state in 2013, but once she turned 12 in 2016, her uncle deflowered her and started abusing her sexually until she got pregnant.
She is said to have aborted the baby with the help of a quack midwife, and her uncle resumed the abuse again.
Kiyeve reportedly impregnated the young girl again as she turned 15 and admitted to being ashamed after she got pregnant again and decided to terminate the pregnancy in a nearby bush.
The girl almost died in the process if not for the providence of a passer-by who took notice of what was going on and reported the suspect to the village head, which led to his arrest.
The girl was found to have developed fibroid tumour which might affect the growth of the baby and she asked for help from NGOs to save her from the predicament.
The NSDC State Commandant, Mr Solomon Iyamu disclosed that Kiyeve will be charged to court to serve as a deterrent to other “useless uncles who molest minors”.
