LBMM: Meet The Exciting Characters Of Nigeria’s First Cinematic Feature-Length Animation Film

December is around the corner and there is so much to be excited about. If you cannot wait for this year to end, please raise your hands!

Apart from all the excitement that comes with Christmas, Nigeria’s first-ever cinematic feature-length animated film is around the corner as well. We still have less than a month till December 11 – the premiere date – but we can still get amped about it.

LBMM follows the story of a precocious and self-absorbed little girl who finds herself in a wildly unfamiliar territory. She encounters a band of unusual characters who change the course of her destiny. So, here are some of the ‘unusual’ characters we are excited to meet in the Ladybuckit universe:

1. Bukky Bozimo: There is an excitable, curious ‘Bukky’ in all of us and, we all need to be thankful about that. She’s a nine-year-old math genius whose sidekick is an adorable pet rat. She is voiced by eleven-year-old Jessica Edwards.

2. Cupsticks:  He’s a lovable cup-wearing toothbrush – a toothbrush whose style is incomplete without his signature cup-hat. It seems we have to watch the film to get the full gist. Popular social media comic and actor, Francis Sule, voices Cupsticks.

3. Dustee: Seasoned Nigerian actress, Bola Edwards, is the voice behind Dustee. She’s the mother we all want – a nice, kind, and matronly dustpan who has a SIM stuck to her torso (the result of a chewing gum mishap).

4. Iyabo and Udume Bozimo: Iyabo is Bukky’s mum – a daring, fun-loving woman who loves to cook. She runs the fictional Teakettle Bakery with her husband, Udume Bozimo.

Udume is an easy-going entrepreneur and his drink of choice is tea! Odd, because he has an adorable potbelly! Nollywood favourites, Bimbo Akintola and Patrick Doyle, give life to the inter-tribal couple.

5. Mopps Is that guy who loves to be in charge. We all know them. He is the self-made leader of the Motley Mopsters. Winner of Glo Naija Sings Season 2, Casey Edema, is the guy behind Mopps’ voice.

6. Slipperhead: You know that one person that refuses to bow down to any leader? That’s Slipperhead. And do you want to guess what he’s made of? Radio personality, Simi Hassan, plays Slipperhead.

7. Pantylegs: If you were a pair of kid’s underwear, you would be cute and shy too. Soundcity OAP and body-positive activist, Awazi Angbalaga, is Pantylegs!

These are some of the characters that will usher us into the world of Ladybuckit and the Motley Mopsters in December and it looks like there’s going to be a lot to see! Who do you think will cause the most trouble?

And just in case you have not seen the teaser, you can check it out here. You are welcome!
