BREAKING: Lagos panics as Itire monarch reportedly dies
The Oba of Itire, Lateef Atanda, is dead, reports say.
Itire council of chiefs is yet to confirm the reported death. But revellers are being warned not to go clubbing in affected areas tonight.
The monarch, who celebrated his birthday 14 days ago, reportedly died on Saturday.
The reported death has thrown Itire, Ilasa, Mushin and environs into panic mode as rumours spread that traditional handlers will hold oro rites for the “late” monarch, Saturday night.

Residents are expected to be indoors whenever such rites are perfomed.
“People started panicking after it turned dark,” a resident told NewsroomNG.
“Traders also closed early. Residents have also abandoned their night life. I fear suya sellers will suffer tonight because nobody will buy their meat. Even the suya people cannot do business at all as everyone is expected indoors.
“A friend called to warn me not to go out because there would be oro that anyone caught during the ritual would be killed.”
Abobaku, a man designated to be killed whenever a Yoruba monarch dies, could be buried alive with “late” Atanda.
