Kidnappers abduct, kill Catholic priest in Imo State
A Catholic priest, Reverend Father Cyriacus Onunkwo, was kidnapped by gunmen in his car and taken to Omumma in Orlu East Local Government Area of Imo State.
Onunkwo was returning home to organise his father’s funeral when he was abducted at gunpoint at Nkwito Junction in Amaifeke Orlu around 7p.m. on September 1, 2017.
The priest’s corpse has been identified according to the State Police Commissioner, who added that investigations were ongoing to unveil his killers.
There are speculations that he may have been strangled as his body had neither gunshot nor stab wounds.
Also, police stated that his car was discovered intact, with nothing removed from it.
The priest died in custody of the kidnappers and so far, no arrest has been made by the police.
