Kidnapped former minister regains freedom two days after

Police in Kaduna State have confirmed the release of the kidnapped former minister, Mrs. Laurentia Mallam, and her husband, Pius. The couple had been kidnapped by unknown persons on Monday evening.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Aliyu Usman, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna that the former minister and her husband were released on Wednesday evening.

“They were rescued at Jare through the effort of the security operatives.’’

Usman added the police “are doing everything possible to arrest the suspects so that they can face the law”.

The police officer did not confirm or deny reports that a ransom of N10 million was paid for their release.

The abduction of the couple continues the worrying trend of the kidnapping of prominent citizens of the country.
