Kano Govt. spends N460m on “decent” accommodation for Hajj pilgrims
The Kano State Government has spent N460 million to subsidize accommodation costs for its 5,600 indigenes going for the 2016 Hajj pilgrimage.
Kano Deputy Governor, Hafiz Abubakar, said this at the launch of a training workshop for the pilgrims in Kano on Saturday.
He said the government didn’t want its pilgrims to end up with indecent accommodation.
According to him, the state government had already secured houses for the pilgrims very close to the Ka’aba, (Holy mosque) in Mecca.
“All the houses secured for the pilgrims are close to the Ka’aba (Holy Mosque) in Mecca.
“This will give our pilgrims the opportunity to stay closer to the Mosque as required,” Mr. Abubakar said.
He urged the pilgrims to avoid taking any prohibited item including kola nuts along as the Saudi authorities had taken measures to arrest anybody who violated their laws..
