Jigawa: Mud house collapses, kills three
Three persons were killed after a building collapsed in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa on Tuesday.
The collapse followed a torrential downpour accompanied by windstorm in Kajarko village.
The building, made of mud, collapsed on the victims, NAN reports.
Their dead bodies were recovered during the rescue effort that followed the incident.
Many houses and farmlands were also destroyed in the area, a resident said.
The Secretary to the local government, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan, who confirmed the incident, described the damage as “colossal”.
Hassan said that the council had deployed personnel to assess the level of damage and the needs of the victims.
He called on the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assist the victims to assuage their sufferings..
