INEC issues Certifcates of Return to 44 LG Chairmen in Kano
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano has issued certificates of return to 44 newly elected Local Government (LG) Chairmen in the state.
The Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Sani Malumfashi, issued the certificates on Sunday.
The Commission charged the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors to ensure they carry out their duties with diligence and show transparency in their dealings.
“By the requirements of the electoral processes, the commission is still saddled with the responsibility of issuing certificates of return to the elected chairmen and councillors as the legitimate leaders of their local government areas. The commission has the mandate to do that.
“They are now charged with the responsibility of attending to the official needs of their respective LGAs,” Malumfashi said.
Sequel to this, the Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf, is expected to swear-in the Chairmen at the Government House in Kano.
Recall that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) won the LG elections on Saturday.
The party cleared all the 44 chairmanship positions and the 484 councillorship positions in the state.
