Imo’s 2025 Budget of ₦756b to Expand Roads, Provide Steady Power Supply
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has presented the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly.
Neusroom gathered that the budget, totaling ₦756 billion, was presented on Monday.
According to the Governor, the ₦755,588,041,220 budget, titled the “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities,” is aimed at reshaping the state.
“There are ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and expand critical infrastructure, especially the construction of rural roads across the three senatorial zones, and ongoing work to provide a 24/7 electricity supply through the Imo State Electricity Distribution (ISED) project,” the Governor stated.
Uzodimma emphasized that his administration is committed to dredging the Oguta Lake and Orashi River to connect them to the Atlantic Ocean.
“The government plans to hand over schools to religious institutions in 2025 as part of its strategy to improve the quality of education,” he said.
On agriculture, the Governor explained, “To enhance food security, the Achara Ugbu Farmland in Owerri North Local Government Area will be developed for large-scale agricultural production.”
Regarding economic development, Uzodimma added: “Our administration is committed to modernizing key markets, including Eke Ukwu Owerri Market, and revitalizing industrial hubs such as the Onitsha Industrial Layout, as well as similar layouts in Orlu and Okigwe.”
The Governor also highlighted his government’s efforts to enhance palm oil production and assured citizens that housing issues in the state would be addressed.
