#IkoroduRobbery: Nigerians blast “medicine after death” police operation

Police are “back in control” but Ikorodu residents are not impressed.

Just like in the movies, the police apparently missed the action as robbers invaded banks located at Ipakodo Ebute, near Ogolonto in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Nobody knows how much was stolen, but reports say the loot, carted away by the woman-led gang, was huge.

The police may have now secured the area but the action of the security agency seemed to arrive tads too late. People are saying the force “allowed the men to escape via the Lagoon.”

Although it is being widely reported that the police “probably” exchanged gunfire with the robbers, witnesses say those reports are inaccurate.

Residents are now heaving a sigh of relief the situation is under control but many wished that was the case when armed robbers stormed the area this morning…and had a filled day.

The police, it appears, have compensated for their lack of action at the scene by taking to the virtual world of social media tell us what now obtains “on the ground.” We’re glad they’re back in control.

@PoliceNG tweeted, Wednesday: “Our officers are responding to armed robbery at Ogolonto, Ikorodu Lagos. Citizens are advised to stay off vicinity.”

Ikorodu, Lagos, now secured after our officers responded to Bank robbery this morning. Police units remain on ground.”

However, Ikorodu residents are not impressed. They accused the policemen of deliberately showing up late probably because they knew they weren’t as armed as the hoodlums.

“It was after 30 minutes of bank robbery our so called police were coming with armored tank and a vehicle with just three officers annoyingly blowing of siren after the robbers have left.”

That’s what a resident of the area said while posting a comment on an online report of the robbery. We don’t think it would be smart to publish his name.

“We did everything to get the police informed as at when due, but the police allowed them to go before they arrived,” another commenter said on the same thread.

Well, the police say they will get to root of the matter and serve justice to the suspects. We can always bank on that..
