Husband allegedly beats wife to death over N200 gift

A 40-year-old man identified as Henry Anaele has been remanded in prison for the next 30 days at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating his wife to death over a N200 gift.

Adams was said to have accused his 35-year-old wife, Chinyere, of receiving the sum of N200 from someone which did not go down well with him.

The court prosecutor, Inspector Cousin Adams told the court that the accused committed the offence on at their residence,72, Goodness Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos.

“This angered the accused who beat his wife to death for collecting the money,” he said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Olatunji, said the accused should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public prosecutions.

The magistrate adjourned the case until August 6.
