How woman abandoned four kids by roadside in Abuja after claiming she was going to buy mango

A yet-to-be-identified woman, on Thursday evening, abandoned her four children – a boy, a girl and a set of twins – by the road side in Gwarimpa area, Abuja.

The eldest among the children is a 10-year-old boy who identified himself as Marvelous and claimed he does not know his father.

A resident of the area, Abdul Adeyemoh, who rescued the children from the road side where they were lying, told Nuesroom that a few months ago, the mother of the kids slumped in the area and was rescued by some residents who took her to the hospital, fed and gave her money.

Neusroom gathered that she returned to the area on Thursday and was given N5,000 by one of the residents, but unknown to them she had dropped her four children and their clothes packed in a bag by the road side close to a hotel.

“Months later she dropped the kids and zoomed off,” after claiming she was going to buy mango around 4pm and didn’t return until 11pm when residents of the area discovered the children.

Abdul said the case has been reported at the Gwarimpa police station and a non-governmental organisation in Abuja, Dorothy Njemanze Foundation, has also taken custody of the children.

The NGO could not be reached for reaction as its representatives did not immediately respond to calls.
