Hoodlums allegedly set police station on fire in Anambra

The Anambra state police station located in Ajali Orumba North area of the state as been set on fire by unknown hoodlums who allegedly stormed the station Thursday morning to carry out the attack.

Eyewitnesses say the incident was caused by hoodlums who were shouting ‘no election in Biafraland’ as they beat up policemen and freed many suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra that were detained in the station.

Police spokesperson in the state, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident and disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura supervised the scene.

Pressed on the issues of the perpetrators of the attack,  the police replied, “It’s a case of fire incident for now until the contrary is proved through discreet investigation.”

Mohammed revealed that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Department of Criminal Investigation and the Intelligence Department to conduct a thorough investigation to figure out circumstances surrounding the attack.
