Federal High Court Dismisses Suit Against 119 #EndBadGovernance Protesters
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the case against 119 individuals who were charged over their participation in the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests. The ruling came on Tuesday after a request from M.D. Abubakar, counsel for the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), to take over and discontinue the suit.

Obiora Egwuatu, the presiding judge, formally struck out the charges following the application by Abubakar, who argued that the AGF should assume control of the case. Abubakar’s motion to discontinue the suit was granted without objection, effectively ending the legal proceedings against the protesters.

The case stemmed from the series of protests that erupted across the country, calling for an end to bad governance and widespread corruption. The charges had previously sparked widespread debate, with many rallying in support of the protesters’ right to demonstrate peacefully.

In a brief address, Abubakar informed the court that the AGF’s office would be stepping in to take over the matter, signaling a shift in the handling of the case. The dismissal of the charges was welcomed by supporters of the protesters, who viewed it as a victory for free expression and democratic rights.
