Here’s why the bicycle should win Nobel Peace Prize

The debate is no longer about “who” should win the next Nobel Peace Prize, it’s about “what” should win it.
And the winner should be…the bicycle.
No, that’s not the name of a person.
It’s the name of, according to Wikipedia:
A human-powered, pedal-driven, single-track vehicle, having two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other.
Two presenters of popular Italian radio programme, the Caterpillar, say the bicycle should win the prize because it is an instrument of peace.
No, this is not a joke.
The presenters even started a petition to push for their view.
They intend to present the signatures to the Norwegian Nobel Committee in February, 2016.
The petition is written in Italian. Here’s a rough English translation:
Caterpillar, a Rai Radio 2 show, nominates the bicycle as a very special candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize 2016.
The show, hosted by Massimo Cirri and Sara Zambotti, and on air from Monday to Friday at 5.30 p.m., supports the most popular two-wheeler’s candidacy for the next Peace Prize.
Caterpillar invites its audience to support the cause by collecting signatures around the world.
A symbolic relay will deliver the candidacy to The Nobel Peace Prize Committee, in Oslo, in February 2016.
The bicycle is an instrument of peace. It’s the most democratic tool of transport for all mankind, it does not cause wars and pollution. It decreases car accidents.
Moreover, in the past, it was used by liberation and resistance movements in many countries.
Caterpillar and its audience are wishing to achieve this goal on a two-wheeler, of course.
The petition comes at a time world leaders are striking deals to stop polluting the atmosphere. Pollution results from the manufacture and use of cars, and other modern devices. The bicycle seem to be environmental friendly.
What do you think?
