“We hear you loud and clear” – Acting President Yemi Osinbajo tells protesters
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has acknowledged the protests held in a number of states across the nation on Monday and has assured Nigerians their complaints have been noted.
Osinbajo, standing in for President Buhari, said the protesters’ displeasure at the government were heard “loud and clear.”
Speaking at a Consultative Forum on the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan held at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Osinbajo admitted that the nation is in a serious economic situation.
He promised that the current economic situation would be immediately looked into.
Several displeased Nigerians flooded Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja streets to protest against the government.
Buhari embarked on a “10-day vacation” in the United Kingdom in January and was expected back in office on Monday, February 6, but it was announced late Sunday that the president would stay “in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.”
