Happening Now! “Day light robbery” at Sabo fuel station
By Olabisi Yakub

“They are robbing people at the Mobil filling station located at Sabo bus stop in Lagos as we speak,” a frustrated fuel buyer has told Newsroom.
The filling station is beside Sabo divisional headquarters of the Nigerian police.
But this is not a conventional robbery as the “thieves” are not harmed with guns, our witness said.
“They’re not robbing people at gunpoint; they’re robbing us at nozzle point,” she said.
The operators of the filling station are reportedly capitalizing on the lingering fuel scarcity crisis to “defraud their customers.”
They have manipulated their meters to spill less fuel at standard price, our source said.
“They’re selling at the official N87 per litre but it now takes more than 25 litres of fuel to fill a 25-litre keg,” she said.
“They are also charging buyers who come with kegs extra fees before selling to them. You pay extra N200 for a 25-litre keg, N100 for 10 litres, and N50 for 5 litres. I’m a victim.”
“This is day light robbery and the authorities must act,” she said.
A source close to employees at the station told us even Mobil workers confirmed the meters have been doctored.
