Gov Fubara swears-in 23 newly elected LG Chairpersons in Rivers

The Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, has sworn in council chairmen of the 23 local government areas elected over the weekend.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in the state capital, Port Harcourt, on Sunday.

This comes only hours after the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli, issued certificates of return to the Chairmen.

The Local Government election took place on the 5th of October, 2024.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) won 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions, with the Action Alliance (AA) grabbing a solitary seat at the polls.
