Ghostmood: Police allegedly kill blogger for smoking weed
A young Nigerian blogger was allegedly killed by police officers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Chukwuebuka Isidore, popularly known as Ghostmood (after his entertainment company), was hanging out with friends when police reportedly stormed in trigger-ready.
Reports say Isidore and his friends were smoking what some now say was marijuana.
Police reportedly attempted arresting the company causing the young man to attempt fleeing. Some reports say Isidore was shot while “trying to escape arrest”.
The incident reportedly happened around Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu area of the Garden City.
Isidore’s friend, Barry Festus, say police has a case to answer for the young man’s death.
“Now I wonder why the police that’s supposed to protect life and properties would be so hasty to take one’s life,”Festua wrote in a Facebook post.
“The Nigerian police took a friend from me. What have we done to the police? What explanations do they have this time for taking the life of this young entrepreneur?
“Justice must prevail this time. I swear, Ghostmood, God did not call you. The Nigeria Police did, and they must face the law.”
Police seem to have activated a “conspiracy of silence” as anger, sorrow, regret and tributes trail Isidore’s fatal shooting.
We called police spokesperson Omoni Nnamdi this morning. He texted us that he was driving and so couldn’t pick our call. We’ve messaged him and are waiting for his reply.
Some reports quoted a police source as saying the incident was “accidental discharge” meaning the police unintentionally shot Isidore.
