Ganduje Declares NNPP “Dead,” Says Kwankwaso Will Soon Return to APC

Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), is on the verge of rejoining the ruling party.

Speaking at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday while hosting the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Ganduje dismissed the NNPP’s relevance, claiming the party has lost its political steam.

“The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried—very, very soon,” Ganduje declared with characteristic boldness. “The coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And they are already digging it.”

The former Kano State governor did not mince words as he took direct aim at ongoing coalition talks among opposition leaders—an initiative he believes is doomed to fail. According to Ganduje, efforts to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections are futile and lack substance.

“The so-called NNPP national leader—if he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us—we will welcome him, because he is coming back home,” Ganduje added, referencing Kwankwaso.

The APC chairman urged all support groups to remain steadfast in backing the Tinubu administration, assuring them of greater inclusion in the party’s activities moving forward.

In a strategic move ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Ganduje also inaugurated a six-man reconciliation committee to unify the party’s ranks across the state’s three senatorial districts.

Just days earlier, during a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna, Ganduje reiterated his stance, predicting the collapse of any opposition alliance attempting to challenge the APC’s dominance in 2027.
